I Silas OZOYA, pledge to work to ensure the creation of a more inclusive and equitable academic experience for all students on campus.

Our goal will be to consciously and constantly create an environment in which all students can continuously thrive while learning and feel appreciated.

As the academic experience officer, we will work together to promote a welcoming, supportive and inspiring environment for all students through initiating and implementing programs aimed at enhancing the overall academic experience for all. 

Specifically, as the AEO, we will:

• Work together to create a supportive and welcoming a more inclusive environment for all students,
   
• Advocate for increased accessibility to tutors to dicuss feedback on academic and foster more inclusion (in practise) on campus,
   
• Create programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic experience for everyone no matter where they're from,
   
• We will be a source of support for students who experience difficulty in completing their coursework within record time by providing resources and necessary assistance to help them achieve their academic goals. 
   
• We will prioritize and promote activities that reduce tensions by improving communication between students and faculty.

Before coming to Leeds Beckett University, I have previously served as a Student Departmental Representative and some of our achievements in this include the creation of a cross cultural after school tutorial group to help other student catch up with understanding difficult concepts thought. 

My passion and drive has always been to improve the lives of others. This I have shown in daily life amongst my immediate friends and this I want to extend course wide.

So, having handled a similar position in a different capacity, I know how to empathize with students on several issues including financial, educational and even issues bordering on inclusion.

My strong passion for helping people get a positive experience coupled with leadership skills gotten over the years such as commitment, perseverance and empathy places me in a good standing to function in the capacity of the next Academic Experience Officer of Leeds Beckett Student Union (LSBU).
