Welcome to my manifesto #Studyhardpartyharder

I, Harsh Bhatia, am standing for the role of Activity and Events Officer of Leeds Beckett Student’s Union. As the activity and events officer for Leeds Beckett Students’ union, I am responsible for bringing in new opportunities for the students.

AS YOUR LEADER I WILL

# Firstly, I am planning to provide all the students with their most basic needs, and career opportunities. I aim to work for the careers team and will work forward to bring more companies into the university to help students get more full-time as well as part-time placements.    

# Next, as head of the student union, guarantor services will be provided to the students for getting better accommodation by collaborating with various authorities

# As entertainment is equally important along with studies, more cultural events will be arranged and more celebrities will be invited to our events.

# Given my experience in organising events like the Leeds Diwali festival 2022 and the Leeds Holi festival, more cultural festivals in our University are expected to be arranged. The aim is to help celebrate different cultures around the world. Also, there will be arrangement of more cultural events to help my fellow students feel connected to their families.

TRANSFORMING LIVES AT LEEDS

Here, my past achievements are being highlighted for those who want to know me

• Arranged for an affordable food system at our college. Also provided career counselling services to students to help them find suitable jobs for themselves.
• Organised for external speakers to take part in cultural events to speak for different communities including the LGBT community to make them feel empowered.
• Organised monthly accommodation for students in University rather than quarterly accommodation to provide them with more flexibility to reduce cost of living.
• Currently working with career teams so that they can help international students secure beer jobs both part-time and jobs in their field of study.
• My main focus has always been on helping international students who often struggle to live a better life as university students.  

My current projects:

• Establishing a student Forum in university for different languages, preferably in the language of international students, to help international students come forward with their problems.
• Organising more course-related events and volunteering opportunity at the university to help students explore new concepts a week and apply their course knowledge practically.
• Working with the authorities to make these events affordable so that more participation from home students and international students can be encouraged.
