How do I book tickets?

Our primary ticketing site is Native, however we work with many different promoters who use different outlets. Just be sure to use an official primary ticket seller and you’ll be fine!

Is there a Box Office so I can book ticket in person?

Our Box Office is only open from the door time stated on your ticket and we do not sell physical tickets from our venue. We do provide tickets to Crash Records for some of our shows, so if you would like to make a purchase in-person this would be the best way to do this. We recommend checking if Crash have tickets for your preferred show in advance.

Where is the Box Office located?

You will find us directly in front of you as you enter the venue via Portland Way. The Box Office does not open until the time on your ticket, and is located after the entrance area where you will need to queue and be searched in order to enter at the admission time on your ticket.

If an event is sold out, can I get a ticket?

As annoying as seeing a show sold out can be, it normally means that all tickets are gone. Keep an eye on the event though, occasionally a few become available nearer the time. Follow our various social media channels to get the announcements as soon as they happen.

If I buy a ticket from someone outside, can I get in?

Whilst this is totally at your discretion, we do not condone the buying of tickets from touts. Touted tickets don’t help fans, artists or venues – and there’s a chance it might be invalid which would mean we couldn’t let you in. So sticking to reputable sellers is best for everyone.

I’ve bought my ticket on a ‘secondary site’, will I get in?

Please do not purchase through any secondary ticketing websites. We cannot ensure the legitimacy of your ticket when purchased through a secondary site. The only secondary site we recommend is Twickets, however this is due to the protections they provide for buyers and whilst they will provide you with a refund in the event you were given an illegitimate ticket, it does not guarantee you entry to the event.

Can I return or get a refund on my ticket?

Refunds only apply to shows that get cancelled or rescheduled. Please therefore make sure you can definitely attend a show before buying tickets!

Why is there a cost for an e-ticket and what is the booking fee and why is it charged?

Every ticket agent will have different arrangements, but these normally cover the cost of fulfilling the order.

I haven’t received my tickets, what do I do?

Always contact the ticketing agent you purchased through in the first instance. We are unable to find your tickets directly other than via our ticketing site.

Where do I collect my tickets?

You’ll need to pick up your tickets from the aforementioned box office once doors have opened on the day of the show (usually 7pm).

What do I need to bring to collect my tickets at the venue?

A copy of the booking confirmation (either printed off or on your mobile phone), ID and the debit or credit card you used to buy them.

Someone else bought my tickets for me to collect, what do I need to do?

Just bring a letter of authorisation from whoever booked them for you, stating your name, the booking reference and the last four digits of the card they used to buy them.

Someone else booked my tickets online, can I use them?

Occasionally, some events might need you to prove with photo ID that you’re the person named on the actual ticket. If in doubt call us on 0113 81 28400.

What if I’ve lost or damaged my ticket or they’ve been stolen?

Unfortunately, the venue cannot help with this, so always contact your point-of-purchase who will hopefully be able to arrange duplicate tickets for you!

Is your venue accessible?

Our venue is fully accessible, but we ask that any customers who require reasonable adjustments in order to attend an event with us take a look at our specific accessibility information at this webpage: www.leedsbeckettsu.co.uk/faqs/accessibility-events

Do you have a wheelchair accessible space?

We have a limited amount of space where we are able to position wheelchair customers, and customers who require seating, due to LBSU being an all-standing venue. All customers who we are able to accommodate will be placed on a raised platform at the side of the room, with full view of the stage. Do you have accessible parking?

There is convenient public pay and display Car Park at the Rose Bowl across the road from the venue (for sat nav use LS1 3HB). The car park is split into two sections; directly outside the Rose Bowl there is an open-air car park and there is an underground car park below the Rose Bowl. Both are accessible via Portland Crescent. Blue badge spaces are located in the open-air pay and display car park.

Do you have a lift?

Yes, we have a lift for access.

What about toilets for people with disabilities?

There is a disabled toilet on the bar level – it requires a radar key that can be obtained from the bar or a member of security if needed.

Can I bring my Assistance Dog?

Of course, but we can accommodate you best if you contact us about this in advance. Please contact our helpdesk aware if you will be bringing an assistance dog so we can ensure your visit with us goes smoothly.

I have an access requirement not listed, what should I do?

Please contact our Welcome Team via lbsu-welcome@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with details, this will be passed to our team who handle live events and we will look to accommodate wherever possible. If we are unable to meet your needs we may advise that you seek a refund from your point of purchase, however this is very rare.

Strobe lighting and effects

Most live events at our venue do use strobe lighting and smoke effects. If you would like to know about a particular event, please email our helpdesk who will pass this on to the team able to advise specifically.

Medication

Medication is of course allowed at LBSU. Please notify our security team of any medication before you are searched to ensure that it is dealt with in a discreet manner. Our security team may refer to our medical team for assistance if medication is not easily identifiable, please assist them by ensuring that is as far as reasonably practicable all medications are in their original packaging, prescription labels are in tact, and that the amount of medication is consummate to the length of the event. Is there seating at the venue?

We are a fully standing venue. We have a limited amount of space where we are able to accommodate customers with accessible needs by providing wheelchair spaces and seating. Is there a different age limit for each event?

As a venue we enforce a policy that requires all customers under 14 to be accompanied by an adult. However, some events may have restrictions with higher age limits at the request of the promoter, artist or tour. If in doubt, please contact your point of purchase for your ticket. Where a customers' age comes into question, you will be required to prove your age. Please see information in our security section for more details about this.

How can I find out stage times?

If stage times are available in advance, these will often be publicised on social media by the artist or production you are coming to see. Where we receive these prior to opening doors, we will display them inside the venue for customers. Performance times are at the discretion of the promoter, production and artist and can often be adapted throughout an event. Because of this as a venue we are only able to confirm the door-opening time which will be on your ticket.

Is there a cloakroom/will I get in with my bag/helmet/suitcase?

For most events we operate a cloakroom, charging £1.50 per item. This can be found on our lower floor, adjacent to the toilets and smoking area. Bike and motorcycle helmets must be removed before joining the queue, and you will be required to be escorted to the cloakroom, and you will not be allowed to remove them until the end of the event. Please note their the cloakroom is intended for coats/jumpers/small bags, and that our prohibited item list applies.

What if I lose my cloakroom ticket?

You’ll have to wait until the end of the event to identify your things.

I forgot to get my stuff out of the cloakroom after the show, what do I do?

You can email our Welcome Team via lbsu-welcome@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with information about your item – please note we can’t post items out, so you will need to collect them, and we can only hold on to left items for as long as space allows!

Can I bring my own food and drink?

We have a dedicated smoking area located near the toilets and cloakroom (the lower ground floor). PLEASE under no circumstances smoke inside, this is against the law and you will be asked to leave. This includes e-cigarettes.

I lost something at the show

You can email our Welcome Team via lbsu-welcome@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with information about your item - if we have found it you will need to come and collect it from the venue during our opening hours, as we cannot post items out.

Is there a cash point/can I pay on card?

We are a cashless venue and only take payment via card.

Where can I smoke or vape?

For most events we operate a smoking area located on the lower level adjacent to the toilets. Vapes, e-cigarettes, and similar devices must also be used in this area and are prohibited to be used within the venue.

Will it be loud?

Yes it will. We do however offer free ear plugs from the bar should you need them. Exposure to loud music can cause lasting damage to your ears, so please always use ear plugs. If you are bringing children these earplugs are not suitable for their ears and you must bring ear defenders for them.

Can I bring my camera/iPad/selfie-stick?

Unfortunately not, please refer to the prohibited items section in the security tab.

Can I leave the venue and come back again in between bands?

For most concert type events we do not allow 'pass-outs' or offer re-admittance. Occasionally LBSU hosts other events, such as all day multi venue festivals. These events do allow pass outs but re-entry will be subject to capacity.

Will I be able to buy merchandise at the show?

Yes (assuming the production or artist have brought some to sell!) The merch stand is in the bar area of the venue, you’ll see it on the way in.

Where are you and what’s your address?

We are located on the corner of Woodhouse Lane and Portland Way in Leeds City Centre. Please do not get the venue confused with our Headingley Campus as we are NOT located there. Please also do not get our venue confused with Leeds University Union's venue Stylus - our venues are not affiliated and we are unable to help you with any events taking place there.

How do I get there by public transport?

Ride with Veezu, our official taxi partner. We’re in easy reach of many city centre bus routes, and Leeds Train Station is less than a mile away.

Where can I leave my bicycle?

There are several bike racks outside our venue.

Safety and security - what do we do?

The safety of our guests, performers, and team members is of paramount importance and our venue management team regularly review all procedures and protocols with our event security contractor and third parties such as the police, licensing, and our landlords. The building is fully covered by CCTV cameras, and has 24/7 patrolling. On event days additional specialist event security & stewarding personnel are deployed, and a robust security plan is implemented to ensure that while attending an event at LBSU you can focus on enjoying your night and the performance. If during your visit you spot something you are unsure or uncomfortable about, please notify a member of our friendly security team who will ensure your report is investigated or logged as appropriate. Security and stewards are located all across the venue and uniformed for ease of identification. Occasionally our security team might be dealing with an issue or incident and might be a bit harder to spot, especially if you are in the middle of the crowd, however there will always be someone at the entrance doors and pit barrier.

Entry searches

LBSU operate a search & screening regime upon entry for all of our event nights to ensure a safe environment for all guests, performers, and patrons. Compliance with any request to search your person or belongings is a condition of entry and LBSU and our security team will refuse entry to any person who does not consent to a search. All searches are carried out by SIA trained and licensed operatives. Please arrive in plenty of time to ensure that you have time to pass through these security checks. The next section lists the items which are prohibited at LBSU.

Prohibited items

While these items are usually prohibited at LBSU, occasionally specific events may operate slightly different policies for security reasons or due to performer requests, we will always endeavour to communicate these ahead of time to ticket holders or communicate them via our social media channels.

Unfortunately in most cases we won't be able to keep any items for you and you will have to return them to your house/hotel/car or dispose of them in the bins external to the venue.

  • Alcohol (don't worry, there is a reasonably priced bar inside!)
  • Food (our bar sells bar snacks, such as crisps, but please make sure you are well fed before arriving at the venue as we do not offer pass outs. For all day festival style events our kitchen may be open).
  • Drinks, including water – including sealed containers. Free tap water is available at the bar.
  • Large bags/backpacks/suitcases
  • Illicit or unknown drugs or similar items (If you are bringing medication, please ensure it is in its original packaging – please see 'accessibility' section)
  • Animals & Pets (Except service animals – please see the 'accessibility' section)
  • Professional type cameras with large and/or removable lenses.
  • GoPro/DJI type cameras and 'selfy stick'/gimbles or any mounting devices.
  • Flags/banners above A3 in size, or of any size if likely to cause offence, or containing overtly commercial or political messaging. (Regardless of size, please be considerate to other peoples experience, our security team may ask to cease displaying any flag/banner if it's disrupting other patrons viewing the event).

 

How can I prove my age/do I need ID?

We operate the 'Check 25' scheme for all alcohol sales and access to 18+ events. Original ID must be presented and photos or photocopies are not accepted. We do not allow customers under 14 to enter without an adult, and in instances where this may need to be implemented you will need to provide ID to prove if you are 14 or older.

What are the conditions of entry?

LBSU and our security team will refuse entry to any person who is drunk, under the influence of illicit drugs, aggressive, or otherwise does not adhere with the conditions of entry (such as consenting to a search). We reserve the right to refuse any person for any reason, and we do not have to give a reason, however this is a last resort measure. Our venue and security teams are music fans too and want everyone to have a good time, please be friendly and respectful.

CCTV information

The LBSU venue operates extensive CCTV monitoring and recording systems for reasons of safety and security covering all areas of the venue. If you need to contact our Data Controller please email our Helpdesk who will forward this to the relevant member of staff to deal with your request. All data is stored in line with internal GDPR/DPA compliant policies.
