What's your Officer team been up to? Let's find out...
Leeds Beckett Students’ Union (LBSU) is run by students, for students. Each year, you choose four of your fellow students as Elected Officers to represent you and your interests!
Let’s catch up on what your Elected Officers have done so far this term!
Dhruv – SU President
- Met with the National Union of Students (NUS) President Amira Campbell to talk about national campaigns and how Leeds Beckett students can get involved.
- Progressed LBSU’s ongoing bus campaign by meeting with Martin Tugwell, CEO of Transport for the North and led on the listening activity for LBU’s shuttle bus. Join LBSU's Bus Campaign here!
Meghna – Academic Experience Officer
- Supported with 12 online and in-person Course Rep induction and training sessions. Our Course Reps help to represent and empower students on their course and create positive change for years to come.
- Meghna is working with library staff to spread awareness of the library services, aiming to support as many students as possible.
Harry – Welfare Officer
- Launched ‘Swap & Smile’, a student-run pop-up charity shop. The shop allows students to exchange items they no longer need and take ones they do, fostering a community-focused approach to sustainable living.
- Harry is working on further projects to support student wellbeing and enhance the student experience.
Lokesh – Activities and Events Officer
- Continuing to build positive working relationships with the Athletic Union and the Global Village Team to create more opportunities for students to socialise and try something new.
- Worked with the Nigerian Students' Community to organise a celebration for Nigerian Independence Day.
Team updates:
Dhruv and Harry met with Alex Sobel, MP for Leeds Central and Headingley to talk about NUS’ ‘No More Guarantors’ campaign and shared the difficult experiences many Leeds Beckett students face when simply trying to access affordable, good quality housing. Find out more here!
