Through our listening work over semester one, we know that students at Leeds Beckett are having difficulty in finding placements or internships relevant to their studies and that will suport them in their future careers. We also know that international students are struggling to have experience from their home nations recognised by UK empoyers, and that students across Beckett are unsure about the types of jobs that are appropriate to for graduates and where to find them!

This campaign seeks to work with students to learn more about specific issues and to come together to identify powerholders within the university and across the Leeds and West Yorkshire region to formulate campaign strategies around improving employment opportunities for students at Leeds Beckett.

There are three main areas of focus for this campaign:

  1. In-curriculum: Seek to improve and/or embed links to careers and employability within course content and assessments
  2. Extra-curricular: Look to increase placements and internships for students at Leeds Beckett, either through the university or from external partners
  3. Other: Work to build connections between communities and alumni students, and increase support for international students who are new to the UK

If you have a passion for careers and are looking to have you voice heard, making an impact on the offer for students at Leeds Beckett then get involved!
