About Us

The WYDAN night shelter provides overnight accommodation for destitute asylum seekers. The aim is to provide our guests with a warm, safe and welcoming environment.

WYDAN Night Shelter is a volunteer led project. Volunteers, after completing the introduction/training session, work in pairs under the supervision of an experienced Lead Volunteers, who in turn is backed up by a second oncall Lead Volunteer. The whle project is over seen by the Project Manager

The Shelter does not take walkins. All guests are referred by support agencies and come with an assessment of their suitable for the Shelter.

As well as offering overnight accommodation we provide a hot evening meal and  breakfast to our guests.

Volunteers on the evening shift (5-10pm) will be asked to welcome the guests when they arrive and help serve the evening meal. They will eat with the guests socialise during the evening.

The ovenight shift is 10pm - 9am, though the morning time can be varied to suit with prior notice. Sleeping accommodation is provided. From 7am the volunteers oversee breakfast  and undertake some light 'housework' before the guests leave for the day

Breakfast Bite provides pay-as-you-feel breakfasts for students on City Campus from 9.30- 11am every Thursday morning during term time! Looking for a hot affordable breakfast on campus? This is your spot! 

You can choose from instant oats, toast and Idli (Indian rice cakes) or grab a cup of tea or coffee before heading to your lectures. 

It's right at Eco Soup by The Hive, and you can even bring your own bowl or cup for a free drink!
